Kevin Lahey, Master Level Clinical Intern
Hey there! My name is Kevin, and I got into this whole “therapy” thing to help people navigate the many twists and turns we all experience throughout life. In a lot of ways, life is a lot like a session of Dungeons & Dragons. Sure, we could get stuff done on our own, but it’s going to be easier, and hopefully more fun with a full party (or in this case, just another person).
My areas of interest include working with children and teens and problems related to ADHD, depression, anxiety, and emotional regulation. Along with that, I have a particular drive to work with boys and men of all ages on the issue of men’s mental health, with my goal being to help reduce the stigma surrounding seeking help when it feels needed. The way I see it, we all deserve a helping hand, and I’m happy to be that helping hand for anyone who may need it.
I go into every session with a smile on my face and my heart on my sleeve, and believe that we, as people, are all deserving of respect and compassion. To me, the therapeutic journey is one walked as a team. The client is the expert on their life, and I’m here to help provide you with a comfortable place to explore any thoughts or difficulties you may be having.
When I’m not in the therapy room, I’m playing Dungeons & Dragons, playing whatever video game currently has its claws in me (World of Warcraft is a safe bet), or writing/listening to the angriest, meanest sounding metal music I can find.
Kevin is currently accepting new clients at the Lake in the Hills and Schaumburg locations. He can be reached at: klahey@owenscounseling.com.
