Michael Peila, LCPC, NCC, CADC
The relief you seek is inside of you…let’s find it and make it stronger than the problem! Clients come to me looking for a therapist who can personally relate to the struggles related to addiction/co-occurring disorders, because therapy should be a place where you feel understood and safe. Sessions with me are non-judgmental and educational. Together, we will relieve you of the double-edged sword referred to as co-occurring disorders. As an experienced addiction/co-occurring disorder therapist, I believe that when personal experience is coupled with professional knowledge amazing things can happen.
I became a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor after receiving a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Roosevelt University. Following extensive professional and personal experience I became a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Certified Alcohol and other Drug Counselor (CADC). Although co-occurring disorders has been a main area of focus, Michael has worked with individuals suffering from a wide array of issues. He utilizes various cognitive-behavioral therapies (ACT, REBT, Mindfulness) while working from a client-centered psychodynamic platform exploring some of the more foundational issues that can often go undiscovered…awareness is key! Along with my education and professional experience, I possess extensive personal experience that allows for deep empathy and has helped prepare me for helping individuals from many different walks of life…promoting hope, self-awareness, acceptance, and content with self as well as our current place the world.
Michael is accepting new clients at the Schaumburg and St. Charles locations. He can be reached at: mpeila@owenscounseling.com or by phone at (847) 854-4333 ext. 3009.
