Sherry Catey Hayman, Masters Level Clinical Intern

Sherry is a Clinical Intern completing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University.

She is passionate about hearing your story and believes there is no such thing as a stranger. Using compassion and humor, she creates a comfortable environment where clients can share their narrative openly. Sherry adopts a holistic approach to understand her clients’ lived experiences and goals, ensuring they feel seen and heard while empowering them to build on their inherent strengths.

She has experience working with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, parenting, anxiety, depression, stress, divorce, chronic illness, life transitions, and women’s issues. She particularly enjoys collaborating with teenagers and young adults, helping them and their parents navigate the unique challenges they face.

Sherry assists clients in managing life transitions, including those related to education, career, and relationships. Her inclusive and accepting nature allows her to connect with clients from diverse identities, backgrounds, and orientations. She focuses on promoting competency, improving communication strategies, and managing stress. Using a person-centered, strengths-based approach, she is dedicated to helping individuals recognize their inner strengths and develop the skills needed to navigate life’s ups and downs.

In her therapeutic practice, Sherry creates a warm and supportive atmosphere where clients feel comfortable exploring their emotions and confronting life’s challenges from their perspective as the expert of their story.

Sherry enjoys traveling, delving into random facts, reading, and cherishing quality time with her daughters.
