Self-Acceptance
By Jacki Haworth, Clinical Intern
Self-Acceptance is a type of mindfulness that involves accepting yourself. This involves acknowledging your strengths as well as acknowledging your weaknesses. Self-Acceptance helps open the possibility to greater happiness.
While this may seem strange that gaining a better grasp on one concept could lead to greater overall happiness there is a reason behind it. Greater self-acceptance leads to having more self-compassion which allow people to live in the present and forgive ourselves for things that happened in the past.
Self-Acceptance is a step towards loving yourself. The first step on the path to self-acceptance is embracing and accepting all aspects of yourself. This can be a difficult task to achieve but the end result is worth the effort.
