Shannon is passionate about helping potential clients find the therapist to best fit their needs and goals. She also makes it her mission to support families going through divorce by coordinating treatment for any and all members of the family to ensure the best co-parenting situation. Shannon is adamant that our communities know that Owens Counseling can be the bridge between schools and psychiatric hospitalization. Shannon and the clinical team can provide suicide assessments to students, create safety plans and, if needed, walk a family through the psychiatric intake process to decrease fear and strengthen the therapeutic alliance any suicidal child will need.
Shannon is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Intensively Trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy through Behavior Tech. She combines that technique with person-centered, Psychodynamic Theory and a touch of Reality Therapy. “I love finding out about people and, as we build our relationship, making connections between our past and our present. These insights help us develop a sense of self-understanding and compassion.”
Shannon loves to travel and watch sports. She is a “retired” goalkeeper, so she only plays once a week now, and is an avid reader. She loves spending some time near water, enjoying a bonfire with her husband, cuddling with their two cats, and cooking.
Shannon is not accepting new clients. She would love to help you find the right therapist for you, even if it’s not her.
Shannon can be reached at 847-854-4333 extension 3013 or by email at shannon@owenscounseling.com.
