Owens & Associates offers clinically supervised practicum/internship opportunities to Master level students!

Graduate students at the Master’s level who are completing programs for their Master’s degree in Counseling/Clinical Mental Health or a Master’s in Social Work have an opportunity to complete their practicum requirements and hours with our site.
At the graduate level, the supervised experience our practice offers includes, but is not limited to:

  • Individual, couples, family and group counseling
  • Opportunities to work with children, teens and adults from a variety of different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Learn and practice intake, diagnosis, treatment planning and termination procedures
  • Opportunity to explore different theoretical orientations and therapeutic strategies
  • Learn how to market yourself and your skills set in a private practice setting through networking and marketing techniques and experiences. We do have an admin team that does help support each individual with obtaining clients.
  • Experience individual and group supervision, peer consultation and scheduled team meetings
  • Opportunity to engage with a number of different clinicians with different expertise and years of experience

We are a well-established group practice meeting the needs of our clients and communities by offering counseling and therapy to all age groups through all modalities.

Responsibilities

    • Utilizing the remaining hours (expectation of 40 hours total) to engage in indirect work (e.g. meetings, networking, community engagement, trainings, etc.)
    • Part-Time: Minimum 15 billable hours per week or average 15 per week each quarter
  • Maintaining Outlook email, phone/text extension, and EHR system
  • Managing own schedule, appointments, client notes, and other weekly tasks
  • Attending and engaging in team meetings
  • Ability to work effectively independently, as well as part of a team
  • Engages in marketing and networking opportunities

Qualifications

  • Hold an LPC, LSW, LCPC, LCSW, PsyD in IL
  • Part-Time: Minimum three days per week
  • Full-Time: 4-5 days per week
  • Be available in person to service 1-2 locations
  • Self-starter attitude
  • Team player mentality

Bonus, though not required: provides bilingual services and/or possesses a CADC.

What You’ll Do

Clinical Leadership

  • Provide supervision and mentorship to therapists and interns

Clinical Services

  • Conduct intake assessments
  • Maintain an ongoing caseload of clients
  • Meet a minimum of 24 billable hours per week (or average 24 billable hours per week per quarter)

Community & Practice Development

  • Build and maintain relationships with referral sources, healthcare providers, schools, and community organizations
  • Help expand access to mental health services throughout the region
  • Support strategic growth initiatives and community outreach efforts

Office Operations

  • Provide leadership and support to a small team of clinicians
  • Utilize Outlook, phone/text communication systems, and EHR platforms effectively
  • Assist with maintaining efficient office operations and clinician support

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Active Illinois LCPC or LCSW license
  • Eligible to provide clinical supervision (or willingness to complete required supervision training)
  • Experience providing psychotherapy to diverse client populations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Now Hiring: Full-Time Administrative Assistant

Mental Health & Healthcare Administration | Lake in the Hills, IL

Owens Counseling & Therapy is seeking a Full-Time Administrative Assistant to join our growing team in Lake in the Hills. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to play an important part in supporting clients on their mental health journey.

As the first point of contact for many clients, you’ll help create a welcoming and supportive experience while assisting with scheduling, insurance verification, client onboarding, billing support, and office operations.

Position Details

Location: Lake in the Hills, IL (In-Person)

Schedule:

  • Monday–Friday: 8am-5pm
  • Possibly the occasional Saturday morning: 8:00 AM–3:00 PM (only when needed if someone else requests off)

Compensation:

  • Starting as full-time hourly for a 90-day probation period with the potential of moving to full-time salary
    • Full-Time benefits begin immediately
    • Starting wage for hourly is around $18-19 per hour

What You’ll Do

Client Care & Front Office Support

  • Answer incoming phone calls, emails, and client inquiries professionally and compassionately
  • Assist with new client onboarding, scheduling, intake paperwork, and appointment coordination
  • Reschedule or cancel appointments as needed within our electronic health record (EHR) system
  • Help create a positive and welcoming experience for clients and families

Insurance & Billing Support

  • Verify insurance benefits and eligibility
  • Upload Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
  • Assist with insurance and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) billing processes
  • Collect and apply client payments
  • Run daily payment and transaction reports

Administrative & Office Operations

  • Maintain office organization and cleanliness
  • Manage room assignments and administrative workflows
  • Update payment information and client records
  • Utilize Outlook, Excel, EHR systems, and other software platforms effectively
  • Support daily operations to ensure the office runs smoothly
