Kathy Walls, Master Level Clinical Intern
Kathy is a Clinical Intern completing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at National Louis University.
Kathy understands that beginning therapy can be scary, so she uses empathy, compassion, and humor to create a space where her clients will feel comfortable to communicate without boundaries. She uses person-centered theory, various forms of cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and art and play therapies. This helps her to better understand her clients’ concerns and experiences, which arrives to the point of counseling and the goals they wish to achieve.
Kathy has worked in the healthcare field for over 20 years and knows that clients want to be seen and heard, and she strives to be a supportive and a steady resource. She wants to work with children, teenagers and adults that are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and concerns of illnesses such as cancer and how the client and family is working through the illness. She is aware that the clients need help finding their inner strengths and learning skills and tools to help them face their challenges and reach their goals with resilience and confidence. She will be there for you by your side.
Kathy is accepting new clients at the Lake in the Hills and Schaumburg locations. She can be reached at: kwalls@owenscounseling.com.
