Ethan Mundt, Master Level Clinical Intern
Hello, I am Ethan! I am a counselor in training here at Owens Counseling. My focus is to be a compassionate and understanding counselor for those who are in a time of need, are facing a challenge or transition in life, and for those who need a space to let their emotions out. My goal for those I work with is to provide a space where we can work together in understanding what you want in life while assisting in developing the strategies and skills to move towards achieving these goals. I strive to create a safe counseling space based on mutual collaboration, personal growth, and honesty to ensure I make those I work with feel empowered, valued, and cared for.
The key aspects of the counseling process I strive for are creating a genuine therapeutic bond grounded in empathy, unconditional support, and collaboration. I conduct counseling from both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and from a Person Centered Therapy (PCT) framework to best support the various aspects of my client. Both of these frameworks are based on my desire to help children, adolescents, and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship and family struggles, and various life changes. I am motivated to get more experience clinically with gender identification/dysphoria, LGBTQIA+ issues, and acute/chronic stress. I also have a background in working with those who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
When I am not spending my time counseling, I enjoy watching as well as playing soccer, playing videogames like Stardew Valley and Pokémon, as well as going for walks with my dog. By engaging in these enjoyable activities, I am able to stay grounded and remain self aware. This allows me to be my best self when counseling by providing the most helpful support to my clients.
Education: Clinical Intern completing his Master in Education at DePaul University, Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Human Development and Family Sciences and Sociology from Purdue University – West Lafayette
