Maggie Perion, LPC, NCC

Maggie has completed her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at National Louis University.

Maggie knows that it can be intimidating to begin therapy, and uses compassion and humor to create a space for clients to feel safe and comfortable. She believes in the importance of using a holistic, trauma-informed lens in order to best understand her clients, their lived experiences, and the goals they wish to achieve. Maggie aims for clients to feel seen and heard, gain awareness of themselves and their experiences, and learn tools to navigate life’s challenges and reach their goals. Maggie also incorporates a strengths-based approach to empower clients to recognize and build upon their inherent resources and resilience.

Prior to becoming a therapist, Maggie worked in public schools for over a decade, teaching at the middle and high school levels. She greatly enjoys working with teenagers and her prior experience in education has given her an ability to understand the many challenges that teens and parents face. Maggie also has a passion for working with teachers and school staff. She understands the unique type of burnout that can happen when working in the school environment, and can support those who may be feeling overwhelmed in their role in education.

Maggie can help teens and adults who are experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, life and career transitions, concerns with substance use, and relationship challenges. Maggie is inclusive and accepting of diverse identities, backgrounds, and orientations.

In her free time, Maggie enjoys spending time with her husband and two cats, cooking and baking, hiking, and traveling.

Maggie is accepting new clients in Schaumburg and Lake in the Hills. She can be reached at: mperion@owenscounseling.com.
